Reading Questions #2

1. On page 80, it states "'The new media,' he went on to say in 1969, 'are not ways of relating us to the old "real" world; they are the real world and they reshape what remains of the old world at will.'" What effects does this 'reshaping' have on modern society? How has it changed since the late 60s? 2. The Vasulkas' goal seemed to be to separate video art from 'numbing television,' just like studio painting was differentiated from drawn/painted advertising. What is next? What will be the next big thing that artists need to distinguish is art versus something that is not?
